7/31/07 shooting was at Fairview Ave & Ponce

A woman was shot at Fairview Ave. and Ponce de Leon Ave around 11:30PM Tuesday night, 7/31/07.

Going west towards Atlanta from Decatur Court Square, Fairview is the street just past the restuarant which is a converted service station.

Those casually listening to the AM news, like myself, may have thought they said Fairview St.

UPDATE (from an acquaintance of the victim):

Two boys in their teens or early 20 busted through the front door, ran up the steps, and pointed a pistol and the head of a sleeping female, named Melissa. They demanded cash. She only had $20. In disgust, one of them fired a pistol twice. One shot went through her him area and out a buttock. The other pased through her upper leg. She is recovering at Georgia Baptist.

She had two large dogs, but apparently they were not in a position to help.
